As an actor, Prithviraj Sukumaran says he doesn’t mind taking a backseat to a film and letting other stars shine, like in his upcoming big-ticket release in Hindi, Bad Mian Short Mian, where he plays the antagonist. The Malayalam star, who has produced Hindi titles such as Oh, Aurangzeb And Name Shabana, opposite Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the action film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. “I believe that instead of putting myself first, put the film and make sure the casting is done in a way that does justice to the story… If you look at my filmography in Malayalam, there are many films where I have taken a backseat in terms of screen time,” Prithviraj Sukumaran told PTI.

The 41-year-old actor gave an example of his 2021 film KuruthiIn which he played the antagonist, although he was offered the lead role by the film’s director Manu Warrier.

“He is professional, focused and good at action. Working with Akshay sir is an eye-opening experience. The way he approaches work, like he is ready at 7:00 am and you will never see him tired on the sets. He always is full of energy and lives a strict, disciplined lifestyle,” he said.

“He has an amazing fun side. When we were shooting in Glasgow, Scotland, he would take us out for dinner. I got to see that amazing relationship he has with his son (Aarav), he’s such a great dad,” he recalled.
