Further to the publication of Amarsingh Chamkila, Parineeti Chopra, who plays the lead role of the film, shared some BTS pictures from the sets and wrote a gratitude note. Parineeti shared a few pictures with her co-star Diljit Dosanjh, in which they have a cameo. She shared a photo with director Imtiaz Ali. Tagging Imtiaz Ali in her post, Parineeti wrote, “I’m so thankful for Chamkila. Imtiazal Official Sir, your direction was incredible; you steered the ship really smartly. Your vision and passion set a new standard.” About her co-star Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti wrote, “@diljitdosanjh, you were the perfect co-star, making every moment on set enjoyable and effortless.” For music director AR Rahman, Parineeti wrote, “@ArRahman sir, you are directing music – the stuff of dreams.” She signed off the post with the words, “And the entire team that made this film. At the trailer launch event of the film a few days ago, Parineeti Chopra spoke about how she bagged the role in the film. “I remember a Zoom call with Rehman sir, Imtiaz sir and Diljit. I thought it was just an introduction but then Rehman sir asked me, ‘Do you know the song?’ I replied ‘I like to sing’ and then he said ‘Okay sing and show.’ “I sang ‘Dama Dum Mast Kalandar’ and whatever Punjabi song I could. That’s how he auditioned me,” PTI quoted him as saying.

Reflecting on the journey of shooting Chamkila, Parineeti said at the event, “Shooting Chamkila was like meditation. It was full of music yet it was the calmest, most disciplined, beautiful and harmonious set… At the end of the day, I felt fulfilled. It felt like coming back from a gurudwara. . I think I have done something good in my life that sir gave me this film.”

Amar Singh Chamki is directed by Imtiaz Ali and the music of the film is composed by AR Rahman. The film is slated to release on April 12 on streaming giant Netflix. Imtiaz Ali and AR Rahman have previously worked together in films like Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha. The film is based on Punjabi singing sensation Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife and associate Amarjot.
