Sushmita Sen, who won the Miss Universe crown in 1994, did an iconic photo shoot in front of the Taj Mahal that same year. Designer Ritu Kumar shared a video from the archives that features By Sushmita Sen The shoot mentioned above. Ritu Kumar captioned the video, “Sushmita Sen’s Miss Universe Photoshoot.” Sharing more details about the video, the ace designer wrote, “In 1993, I signed a contract with the Miss India team to design dresses for the contestants. In 1994, Sushmita Sen won the Miss India title and won Miss Universe. It was a historic moment in the US and one that I was a part of.” I was given the task of making clothes with Miss India.I started sending her the suits I made Construction And Zardozi, kurta-pyjamas and sarees have all been well received.”
Ritu Kumar describes what happened before the shoot and how they managed to shoot in pink afterwards saree That Sushmita She also mentioned that Sushmita Sen fell unconscious during the shooting of Prashakele. “When she arrived in Delhi after the tour, I got a frantic call to come to the Taj Palace. On reaching, I learned that the team had scheduled a shoot outside the Taj Mahal the next day, but the clothes they had sent were shorts and T-shirts – too short to wear outside the mausoleum, so we Opened the night shop and quickly changed the blouse and within hours we were ready for the shoot and at one point Sushmita fainted but the image was worth our efforts,” read an excerpt from Ritu Kumar’s post.
The designer signed off the post with the words, “To this day, I think of her in that pink saree with the tiara and the UP police personnel around us clapping proudly! These images have been splashed in leading publications of the country with our credit. And most importantly, to the weavers.”
