Former actress Zaira Wasim known for films like Riot And Secret SuperstarHer father Zahid Wasim passed away on Tuesday. While Zaira did not reveal the cause of her father’s death, she said in an Instagram story that the cremation took place at a mosque in Srinagar. “Indeed the eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, but we will not speak except what pleases our Lord. My father Zahid Wasim has passed away,” she wrote alongside an old picture of her father.

“Please remember him in your prayers and ask Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant peace to his grave, protect him from his torment, ease his journey hereafter. May he be called to reckoning easily and may he be granted Jannah and a high status. Magarirah indeed, We belong to Allah and indeed, we will return to Him,” the 23-year-old said in a post on Tuesday.

Zaira rose to fame when she made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with a sports drama Riot, also stars Aamir Khan. She won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for portraying the younger version of famous wrestler Geeta Phogat in the blockbuster film directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

In 2019, Zaira announced her “disassociation” from the field of acting, stating that she was unhappy with the line of work as it interfered with her faith and religion.

It was her third and last film The sky is pinkStarring Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Rohit Saraf.
