Hiramandi: Diamond Bazaar Getting a lot of love from fans and critics. This series marks the director Sanjay Leela BhansaliDebuting in the OTT space, it has an excellent cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari. Recently, Jason Shah, who plays British police officer Cartwright in the Netflix show, discussed a particular scene where his character asks Mallikajan (played by Manisha Koirala) to dance in front of his officers. While interacting with India Today, the actor talks about the scene where Mallikajan reaches the police station and pleads with the officers to release her daughter Alamzeb (played by Sharmeen Segal). He said, “I think the rape scene is very relevant as it breaks her (Mallikajan’s) character. I think it comes in her own mind but she sees it. She does it for the girl. She also realizes that the power-play game is still in British hands and she has to do what she has to (sic) as she was making decisions.

Jason Shah He added, “This has happened many times in India. Which is very sad, India has rape and all kinds of problems. I hope it makes people not want to do things but actually realize the seriousness of these issues (sic). I am born and brought up in a Gujarati family and have an English mother. I have received racism from my family because they looked at me as a white boy because of my skin tone and we live in a complex world. We should never rise to the heights of illegality (sic) that Cartwright did.

Sharing the experience of working in Hiramandi, Jason Shah added, “It was fantastic, working with the crew I learned a lot from working with new directors… It was amazing… It was great working with Indian Bollywood heroines and it was a dream come true. Obviously, the screen time I get will help me a lot on the international platform as well. Everything was a good experience for me (sic).”

In addition to Hiramandi, Jason Shah has appeared in several projects such as Chandrasekhar, Queen of Jhansi, Barrister Babu, And Swaraj.
