Manisha Koira will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut series. Hiramandi: Diamond Bazaarahead of the show’s release, The secret After a long wait of 28 years, the star opened up about working with the legendary director. Speaking to NDTV, the actress revealed how the offer came about. She said, “When I was offered this project, I was gardening in Nepal and I was very excited. I waited for so long. I waited for 28 years and finally Sanjay came up with a good project and I told him, ‘I need another good one.’ Sanjay don’t take another 28 years to offer.’

She added, “I have seen his films after Khamoshi. It gives me so much joy and happiness to see his career graph and one great film after another. When I got this offer at this age and stage in my life, I was really thrilled.

Talking about her experience of working in Heeramandi, the actress said, “I had stage 4 cancer and being given a chance to survive was a second chance at life. I was not sure if I would survive and for how long. In my working life, working on a project like Heeramandi And playing this multi-layered character was a second life for me as an actor.”

The actress will play the role of Mallikajan in this film HiramandiDescribed as a “planned” person “ruling an elite house of courtesans” in British-ruled India.

Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is slated to release on May 1. The period drama features an ensemble cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sharmeen Segal.
