Mr. and Mrs. Mahi Movie Story Review:
Nikhil Mehrotra and Sharan Sharma’s story has potential. We’ve seen movies where failures coach aspiring athletes to success. But here the coach is the husband and he gives a new touch. Screenplay by Nikhil Mehrotra and Sharan Sharma is smooth. The first half is rich with emotion and humor. But the writing has some loose ends at places. Nikhil Mehrotra and Sharan Sharma’s dialogues for most parts of the film are excellent.

Sharan Sharma’s direction is impressive. He does a good job with high marks and Mahendra gifting a tie to Mahima’s father, Mahendra and Mahima recognizing each other’s love for cricket, Mahendra thanking Mahima for happiness etc. The intermission point is applaudable.

After the interval, the film takes a turn when Mahima’s cricket career takes off. However, the film is predictable as one can predict what will happen next. Sports movies have also overdosed. As a result, the audience cannot clap until the end. The track about a husband getting jealous of his wife gives a strong déjà vu to Bhimaan (1973). Moreover, the dialogue, which is incredible throughout the film, lacks punch in two crucial scenes in the climax. Also, the mother’s character, though pivotal, is given a raw deal. She is absent in the final part of the film though she contributes wonderfully to the narrative.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi – Official Trailer | In theaters on May 31 Rajkumar Rao Janhvi Kapoor

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi Movie Screening:
Rajkummar Rao is a natural. There is no false note about his performance and he does very well in the second half. Janhvi Kapoor has proved her worth once again. It was a physically demanding film and she excelled. Kumud Mishra is reliable. Rajesh Sharma is handsome as expected. Zarina Wahab is very good but sadly she is rare. In the pre-climax her character becomes very important but in the first half and the finale she is not given her due. Purnendu Bhattacharya (Mahima’s father) and Yamini Das (Mahima’s mother) are decent. Arijit Taneja (Sikandar) is fine.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi Music and other technical aspects:
The music is not of the chartbuster variety ‘look at yourself’ is attractive. ‘if you were there’ And ‘Junoon Hain’ are well woven into the narrative. ‘Cry Jab Tu’ And ‘that’s how you are’ Do not register.

Jon Stewart Eduri’s background score is rousing. Cinematography by Anay Om Goswami is decent. Sharanya Menon’s production design is realistic. Anaita Shroff Adjania and Varsha-Shilpa’s outfits are straight out of life. Nitin Baid’s editing is satisfactory but could have been sharper at some points.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi Movie Conclusion:
Overall, MR AND MRS MAHI is a good flick with performances, plot and an applause worthy interval point as its USP. However, the latter is predictable and comes at a time when audiences are tired of sports movies. Nevertheless, it’s off to a good start thanks to the Cinema Premi Divas offer. Positive word of mouth should help the film take off at the box office.
