Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout It is the story of a terrible crime. ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee) is the head of the Special Crime Unit. With him Sanjana Bhatia (Prachi Desai), Amit Chauhan (Sahil Vaid), Raj Gupta (Waqar Sheikh) and Javed (Nimesh Balaji Shinde). After the events of the last film, the unit has expanded but Commissioner Mayank Sharma (Manuj Bhaskar) is under pressure to shut it down. One night, a deadly shooting takes place at the Night Owl bar in which several people are killed. Avinash is asked to lead the cast as a minister’s PA is also killed in the firing. Avinash and his team begin an investigation assuming that the shooting was done to eliminate the PA. But they soon learn that a girl present at the bar, Azma Khan (Surbhi Rohra), is the reason for the murder. She attended the bar with her friend Irrfan and both were kicked out. As they investigate, the unit learns that Ajama was an escort. Meanwhile, the body of a girl named Tara Sachdev has been found in Jaipur. Avinash realizes that there is a connection between the two murders. But zeroing in on a suspect isn’t easy because there are so many players involved, all with their own motives. What happens next sets up the rest of the film.

The story of Devhansa of Aban Bharu is intriguing. Aban Bharu’s screenplay of Devhansa is charming in places. In no time, one gets hooked on this task. The writing is also full of many unexpected developments. However, it gets too stretched in the middle. Aaban Bharu has the influence of Devhansa’s dialogues but some of the one-liners sound overpowering.
Aban Bharu’s direction of Devhansa is uncomplicated, which is very important as the film has a lot going on and a lot of suspects. As is the case with most whodunits, the director keeps the viewer guessing as to who might be behind the murder and the motive behind doing so. There is also a human trafficking angle that adds a lot to the plot. In fact, the Jaipur episode keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The suspense is unpredictable.
On the other hand, the movie is 2 hours 22 minutes long. He drags in some places. Although the makers are trying their best to keep the story simple, some developments are confusing. The flashback to the murder in the bar is pretty unconvincing. It is not easy to digest that the killer could have killed so many people without any hindrance. Also, the motive behind it is weak. Some developments are not depicted visually and are given a raw deal. Its effect is reduced to some extent. Finally, the title Silence was important in the first installment and this aspect is not seen in the sequel.
Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout Movie Performance:
Manoj Bajpayee is in top form as always. He excels in investigative and dramatic scenes while he draws laughs with his deadpan humor. Prachi Desai is perfect for the part and gives a beautiful performance. However, an actor of her caliber deserves a better character arc. Sahil Vaid is entertaining while Waqar Shaikh is credible. Parul Gulati (Aarti Singh) made a late entry but left a big impression. Dinkar Sharma (Arjun Chauhan) stands out with his performance. Surbhi Rohra, Ishika Mandeep Gagneja (Amisha), Chetan Sharma (Rizwan Shaikh) and Shruti Bapna (Jaya Rawal) are very good in supporting parts. Randhir Rai (Gaurav; resident of Jaipur) is fair. Manuj Bhaskar does not get much scope. Dave Devhans (Winston) gives a good performance but his character seems forced. Rahul Chaudhary (Dr. Saifuddin Qureshi), Mahi Jain (Rimzim; who calls from the dhaba), Padam Bhola (Rajiv Singh), Pankaj Chauhan (Ravi; who refuses to sleep with the girl) and Ranjana Chaudhary are the actors who do well. (Anika). Neena Kulkarni (Amisha’s grandmother) is beautiful in a special appearance.
Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout Music and Other Technical Details:
There is one song in the film which is unnecessary and very little. Gaurav Godkhindi’s background score suits the theme. Pooja Gupte’s cinematography is satisfactory. Anjana Rai’s production design is apt and richer than the first part. Rabindra Kumar Sonar’s costumes for Manoj Bajpayee and Aparna Shah’s costumes for the rest of the cast are realistic yet stylish. Vicky Arora’s act is not bloody. Sandeep Sethi’s editing could have been sharper.

Overall, Silence 2: The Night Ol’ Bar Shootout is an intriguing murder mystery but suffers from lengthy and specific loose ends.
