New Delhi:

Horror-comedy ants It started well at the box office. As reported by Sacnilk, the film earned ₹7.75 crore on its third day. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjaya stars Abhay Varma as Bittu, Sharwari Wagh as Bela and Mona Singh as Bittu’s mother, Pammi. The film tells the story of Bittu, who returns to his ancestral village and accidentally unleashes an angry ghost named Munjya. He then tries to save himself and Bella from this ghost. The duo’s encounter with Munjya is both funny and scary in equal measure.

next to ants‘s release, Sharwari Vagh spoke about her character in the film. Speaking to news agency ANI, she said, “My character is a modern girl who wants to fulfill her dreams and prioritize them before everything else, which I think we all do these days. Many girls will relate to my character. Her dating life is also very confusing, many girls can relate to that too. A beautifully written character.”

In a review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave Munjya 1.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, “Munjya, shot with great flair by cinematographer Saurabh Goswami, is hardly scary… The acting in Munjya does not end kindly. The plot is over the top. The spotlight is on the eponymous animal but Abhay Varma as the boy struggles to hold on to his sanity. Mona Singh, Sharwari Wagh and Suhas Joshi (a pivotal role in Bittu’s Ajji, Munjya’s backstory) are all enough in the film that they don’t really get attention.”

ants It is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar whose 2015 Marathi film Classmates became a huge hit. Munjya is backed by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films.
