Sanjay Leela Bhansaliof Hiramandi: Diamond Bazaar Undoubtedly a star-studded project. The Netflix show starring Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha is winning the hearts of the audience. Recently, Shekhar Suman, who plays Nawab Zulfikar in the series, discussed an intimate scene in episode 1, featuring Zulfikar and Mallikajan (played by Manisha Koirala). Shekhar spoke about how director Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave a unique interpretation to the original script while shooting the series. While interacting with zoom, Shekhar shares, “Normally like any other actor, I was completely prepared with my lines given to me by my own interpretation. When the scene was about to start, he called me and said, ‘I’ve given it a weird interpretation. Are you open to that?’ I said, ‘Yes’, and he completely reversed it and no one thought anything of it.

Shekhar Suman He added, “He, (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) out of the blue, must have thought it was being done to death. Let me put it this way. So it’s about this Nawab, who is drunk, urinating in a car pulled by Mallikajan. And he, in his drunken state, is trying to get along with her.”

Narrating the filmmaker’s idea, Shekhar Suman added, “He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) said, ‘No, go around. And then he (Nawab Zulfikar) takes s*x mid-air, thinking that Mallikajan is sitting on that side. And he (Nawab Zulfiqar) being a Nawab, he was convinced and he turned. So Mallikajan says, ‘What are you doing? i am here He says, ‘No. I know what I’m doing and I know you’re here.’ So, it was a very strange interpretation and it’s never been done by any actor or director before that someone is doing s*x mid-air. But well done.”

The actor also remembered Sanjay Bhansali saying, “I am fine. If you say no, it’s because I just thought. Do you think that’s too weird?”

“I said, ‘No, there’s nothing weird. There’s nothing weird about this life. I said I’d do it, and that was the first one. A drunken scene, someone in a stupor, which becomes a very difficult scene to perform because then either you’re over or you’re You don’t get the right shot… but somehow I get the gravity of it,” added Shekhar Suman.

Explaining his reaction to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s performance, Shekhar Suman said, “I did it. As I said I did it very easily and he came running and said, ‘Magnificent, magnificent’. So it happened. Then there was a pack up and all the technicians came running and said, ‘Thank you. Otherwise, this scene would have played out as is. It’s a sticker. Another 6 hours, 7-8 hours if no other nut had caught the tune. But it works out perfectly because I knew that what the one standing in front of me explained to me and the result I absorbed was going to be right.”
