“The Hiramandi set lacks basic decency and kindness”

Jason Shah is basking in the success of his latest offering Hiramandi: Diamond Bazaar, the actor played the role of British policeman Alistair Cartwright in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s serial. Recently, he shared his experience while shooting for the show. He revealed that the atmosphere on the sets was full of tension. In an exclusive interview with NDTVJason notes that basic human kindness is lacking.

Jason Shah said, “I found it lacking the simple things of human nature. I didn’t get to know a lot of the people there, which I found very strange and a bit confusing. Then I started to think that because I was playing the villain, I wanted to piss everyone off, but for me , hooking up with a guy on set never boils down to my character, but I guess you just go with the flow of things.

Opening up about his first meeting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Jason said, “I was sitting in a room in his office. I had the script in my hand and he came in and casually looked through a cupboard. Then he looked and very quietly said, ‘Hi.’ It was not some kind of introduction, I later realized that he had come to see me to see if the man of his choice could pick it up.”

Hiramandi: Diamond BazaarSet against the backdrop of British India, it explores the complex dynamics of Mallikajan’s workplace as she navigates the challenges posed by the return of her late daughter Faridan (Sonakshi Sinha). The series also stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhiyan Suman and Taha Shah.

The period drama has garnered substantial viewership on Netflix, ranking second on the platform’s weekly Top 10 list for non-English language shows during its premiere week.
