As Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant shines in the ongoing IPL edition, after recovering from a gruesome accident that kept him out of action for over a year, superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t be prouder. In a recent conversation with the host broadcaster, Star Sports, Shahrukh spoke highly of Pant and revealed that he was ‘frightened’ after learning of the previous near-fatal car accident. “It was terrible. I saw the video (of his car). It was terrible! Because we didn’t know what the consequences of that accident were. It gives you the worst feeling. To me, these guys are like that. I have guys on my team, I hope. Shahrukh said in a video shared on KKR’s social media handle that he is not injured.

“And for an athlete to get injured, it’s a double jeopardy. Worse is for us to get injured. I wish him the best. I hope his knee recovers soon,” the actor added.

The Pathan The star also shared his memorable interaction with Rishabh Pant after the match between KKR and DC in Vizag on April 3. After the match, a video clip of Shahrukh with the Delhi Capitals captain went viral on the internet.

Seeing Rishabh Pant sitting on the floor, Shah Rukh insists him to stay seated but ex Pant still gets up. With a warm hug, SRK whispered something in Rishabh Pant’s ear and showed his respect and admiration for the wicket-keeper batsman.

Recalling that interaction with Rishabh Pant, SRK said, “In the last game, when I met him, I told him not to get up, it must be painful. I was hugging him and asking, ‘Are you okay? I didn’t see. Before that, After the accident I am very happy that he is playing well and I hope he will continue to play well.

Rishabh Pant’s fatal car accident occurred in December 2022, shortly after India toured Bangladesh that month. The star wicketkeeper-batsman suffered multiple head, knee and back injuries.

He was taken to Mumbai for advanced treatment, which included surgery. Due to the serious nature of his injuries, which also included tearing ligaments in his knee, Pant was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Asia Cup and last year’s Cricket World Cup at home.

In his return to competitive cricket this IPL season, after a gruesome car accident, Rishabh Pant has shown full fitness not only with the willow but also behind the wicket. He has scored a total of 398 runs in 11 matches for Delhi Capitals at an average of 44.22 and a strike rate of 158 with three fifties. His best score this season is 88 not out.

Rishabh Pant is also typically quick and nimble behind the stumps, taking 14 wickets (11 catches and three stumpings).
