Actress Raveena Tandon, who recently wowed audiences and critics with her performance in the legal drama film Patna Shukla, has spoken extensively about her journey in the film industry. In a recent chat with Jist, she spoke about the pay disparity between male and female actors in Bollywood in the 90s. The actress mentioned, “The money was not very good for actresses in those days. The money was very low in those days, especially the pay gap between actors and actresses. Male stars got a lot. What would they earn in one. I could do 15 films, which I It took 15-20 films to earn as much as my male colleagues.
The pieces The star also revealed that male actors have the luxury of doing fewer films than female actors. “During that time, Aamir and Salman were doing selective films while heroines worked with many more heroes. But overall for everyone, the money was much less than it is today,” Raveena added.
In an earlier chat with NDTV, Raveena Tandon talked about losing some projects because she felt the costumes or dance moves were inappropriate. Raveena discussed that there were times when she said, “No, I’m not going to take this step. No, I will not wear this dress.” The star added, “I have left many films where I was not comfortable with the costumes I was given to wear. There were a lot of songs where I was like, ‘I’m sorry, but I don’t think it’s right and I’m sticking to it.’ There have been times that I have had to sacrifice some movies and stuff for it. But then, so be it. But I wanted to live my life my way.”
